For Immediate Release: Bronx Publisher, Author & Poet Re-Launches the 1 Million Mentors for Young Authors Global Initiative Since 2001, Now One Million Book Lovers for Young Authors Initiative
"With millions of published books worldwide one of the greatest role models for today's youth are authors who leave everlasting impressions for youth to gain inspiration to read books and gain the motivation to become published authors one day. There is no literacy if youth aren't motivated to read and write daily, the greatest gift to a young child along with instilling values and self-respect."
-Heather Covington
Author Heather Covington stands by her statement as an author and publisher taking on the initiative to publish young poets and authors to inspire productivity, self-esteem and make young minds dreams of becoming published authors a fruition, thus improving literacy, a love for reading and motivating youth to stay in school.
Today as "America's Literary Diva," Heather Covington mentions that to write is to expose one's talents and inner creativity, thus developing one's self-esteem and efficiency toward accomplishing every day goals from youth to adulthood, and which Covington says many children need motivation because they simply are not inspired until they acquire a mentor or someone who encourages them later on to achieve their goals by providing real opportunity and why it is critical for authors worldwide to take on the role of mentorship to youth.
On a quest to help young minds acquire the passion to read more fine literature from a variety of genres and gain the knowledge to achieve optimal success in life, Heather Covington penned a book of essays, letters and poetry for parents and teachers entitled, Lil PerSOULnalities: A children's Book for Parents and Teachers. The "Lil PerSOULnalities" caricatures reflect personified values children love to step into the shoes of and attain those values like "Caring Carrie," "Sharing Sharon," and "Loving Lloyd."
With the release of Lil PerSOULnalities, the writer is now the new hero of every child and why Heather Covington launched her initiative inviting mentors and book lovers to order the book directly and pass it on as a gift to an educator or parent to help instill the core values children need now to succeed.
Literary mentors are invited worldwide to encourage parents and teachers at every signing to visit www.Disilgoldbooks.com and not only purchase Lil PerSOULnalities, but refer youth for publishing. All referring authors will be featured on the Disilgold.com Link Directories.
Portions of proceeds go toward annual funding of a publishing division of Disilgold designed to publish young poets and artists on their way to becoming first time authors. A published young child is a child with a future as an author.
Heather Covington encourages every book lover and mentor she meets on the Heather Covington Literary Divas Book Tour™ to not only responsibly GIVE BACK to today's youth by purchasing Heather Covington's books ad/ or Lil PerSOULnalities, but to make a difference by also, submitting a motivational quote to help inspire each child upon purchase. Daily mentor's quotes will headline www.disilgold.com e-newsletters beginning February 14, 2010.
A child prodigy, Heather shares her own story of how a history class in 4th grade changed her life when the teacher introduced biographies of African-American heroes and a poet named Phyllis Wheatley along with books by great writers like Rosa Guy and Dr. Maya Angelou. Not only did Heather score a 99 average and earn a top history award for her class, but she discovered her illustrative, fashion designing, song writing and poetry talent.
In fact, the first full length novel Heather Covington ever read was a book by Rosa Guy which was well-written and sparked her own initiative to write and read books later on, thus earning her way out of poverty and obtaining "The American Dream.".
As an adult, Heather Covington rediscovered her poetry and children's poems she had written that she began to utilize and help youth instill self-values. One day she decided to write an open letter every day to teachers and parents in her daily journal to share her secrets of promoting successful learners and readers. Her essay letters along with her secret methods were the beginning of her poetical Lil PerSOULnalities caricature poems that she memorized and recited to her students.
As a product of a tough urban environment who understands the epitaph," Be hostile to me and I will be hostile, strike me and I will strike you, and cast doubt on me and I will cast doubt on you," she shares how parents and teachers can help quell unlikely behaviors in youth that lead to self-destruction, violence and low self-esteem rather than instill pride, integrity and values that lead to progress." However, the message begins with people recognizing the role of a teacher in a child's life and the inspiration of authors. Put both professions together and you're bound to motivate a young author in the making.
A dedicated teacher for life, Heather Covington still inspires youth today because she cares and helping young minds to succeed brings her joy. Her book of Lil PerSOULnalities inspires parents and teachers to go back in time and rediscover their inner child, for it is necessary to understand and support today's youth. Heather's work with youth has been filmed by PBS and the Learning Channel.
Her message of support for youth was given an A+ by former superintendent of a New York City School District, Mary Anne Hawthorne, who visited Heather's Covington's 1st Hueman Bookstore Signing attended by celebrities and her own Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority sisters of Tau Omega.
Heather's goal is to publish all 50 children's books she has written during her summer breaks where her own inner child as a youth flourishes in recognizing her humble beginnings as a product of the projects and now the owner of Disilgold Publishing . Her poetry already is sung, read, recited and memorized by thousands of youth who call her Ms. C. Her web site can be visited at www.LiteraryDiva.com.
